The Pack Lands - Page 35 Empty Re: The Pack Lands

Post by Gale November 20th 2011, 4:42 am

Gale couldn't move. No, he wouldn't. There was no way the warrior would abandon any of his pack mates while the fire roared through the forest like the beast that resided in his own soul. His dark ears were motionless as they strained to pick up any sound that would signal another wolf. The only sound he could hear at the moment was the crackling of the trees, beyond that, only silence. It was almost as if the world had been abandoned and the only thing left was the burning flames. They too, would cease to exist. Either with the appearance of rain of the sheer lack of oxygen. The latter of which was beginning to affect the Wanderer. His sharp vision was becoming cloudy and his breaths growing more frantic and demanding. So much of the precious gas had been used by the inferno and the intense increase of carbon dioxide was overwhelming. Gale would have to leave soon, lest he fall victim to the poisoning of his blood as it mixed in his body.

Why was no one answering his call? Were they all free of the wasteland that the territory was becoming? Such a thing was possible but he couldn't risk it. If there wa a fatality, it would haunt him. He would become marked as a failure because of his ignorance. Ash clouded his vision as a branch fell to the ground and dimished into dust at his paws. He had to get out and he had to get out now. If he did not follow the instinct that punched his gut, he would be lost alongside the Banishing Winds territory.

Lifting his head, lowering his wars and opening his maw, Gale released one last howl. Unlike the previous one, it contained a trace of desperation in its sound. If there were no replies again, he would have no choice but to depart. There was no way he'd die here. Not while he had so much to prove. To himself, to the packand to his past. Finally, the male's haunting melody faded on a slow decrescendo before silencing completely. His ears lifted from his skull again and his eyes opened. This would be the last time he could wait.

[Horribly lame..]

Phantom closed his eyes and let his imagination do all the work. He tired to remember what the forest was like before the fire and smoke. The feeling of being watched crept over him a few times and again. Trying to ignore it, he attempted to pick up the pace but yet again the pain came. With great force this time.

The smoke lashing out at his closened eyes, still burnt like a thousand bees stinging them. He didnt whine, for once. He was trying to keep this pain to himself so that he wouldnt look like a pathic loner with all these pack members around. He was stilla little shocked that the pack known as the banishing wind pack were helping him, a loner. He flattened his ears and re-opened his eyes to face a large creek in the distance. There were wolves there. A lot of them.

One of them should be able to help me, but not until the other are fine.

The white brute slowly chocked up the words with coughs "I dont want to seek herbs or help until i know you fellow pack members are fine. Im just a loner and not worth it." He knew there would be a crut reponse, like no sense, all wolves were equal. But the brute was stuborn and trying to make the point that he is just a loner trying to squeeze into a pack, their pack, and wasnt worth the waste of herbs when other members of their pack were injuried.

"I dont want to seek herbs or help until i know you fellow pack members are fine. Im just a loner and not worth it."

“Your right you are just some loner and in all honesty we probably shouldn’t waste what aid we can offer to someone such as yourself.” Crimson began bluntly as he continued onward picking up his pace as he saw the Westward creek nearing. “The pack and its members should always come first in my eyes and it always will…and nothing will change how I view such things. So the only solution is for you to join the pack and be accepted by Kira once we cross the waters and are out of harms way.” He added on though this time he provided a long watery glance toward the injured male who was obviously trying to appear less like a burden.

“Besides we three have already decided that once we reach the other side of the creek that we wouldn’t be going back…because all of our members would have made it out.” Crimson added his voice strong and filled with a great sense of hope.

Mycroft had been sleeping peacefully near a small waterway when the blaze had struck, he was invisible to the eye in the long browned grass and dirt, his own chocolately pelt covered in it. His sleep was deep, and undisturbable. Except for perhaps one thing, the smell of smoke. His brown nose twitched and tingled at the scent as it entered through his nose attempting to awaken his senses. Little did he know that he was in grave danger, that the fire would soon be upon him.

The hunter's body started to tingle and itch, becoming covered in ash and other things that had been burned to the ground. It shook him awake with all the small spasms his body was making. He was no long a brown wolf but a black one. He stared at his paws sheepishly for minutes, wondering what had happened. Soon recognising the smell of smoke and putting two and two together to realise that there was a blaze about. Without thinking any more he jumping into the small wallow and rolled around in its mud and water, this would make him less susceptible to the fire.

With his protective layer of mud and water, Mycroft looked at the blaze quickly before darting off. He had no idea which direction he was headed, just away from the blaze. Though he was following the direction of the small creek, just in case he had needed to jump in it for survival. His pink tongue lolled out the side of his mouth as his heart raced, and adrenaline pumped through his body to keep him moving away from the flames. His vision was slightly blurry from all the ash that had gotten into his eyes, but he could make out faint silhouettes of wolves up ahead. Thats where he'd be headed.

His bounding pace soon set him upon those figures, of wolves that some of, he hadn't encountered yet, but a black female that he had. Kira, was her name, as he remembered it. As he slowed to a trot and eventually a halt he sat, plonking his backside on the ground panting. Completely unrecognisable amongst the ash, mud, leaves and twigs that stuck to him along the way.

Kira's gaze traveled to the loner as he spoke, unsure of exactly what to say. A sense of relief rushed through her as Crimson solved the problem for her, answering with words that would satisfy the loner's sense of thought for sure. Her ears perked as another wolf made his way over- he was confident- as if he knew one of the members. But the beta had never seen him before in her life, she was sure of it. Confusion settled on her face but she brushed it away, deciding to wait until they reach the creek to deal with it all. "Follow us" she said simply, walking on. Her ears settled atop her head as the image of the creek vaguely came into view, flicking her tail.

Crimson’s pace slowed slightly as an unfamiliar being drew near the small group of wolves. Upon closer inspection, Crimson could see that under the mud and twigs there was a male wolf…one who he had yet to meet. As Kira spoke, Crimson’s ears twitched trying to catch her words. Apparently, she had just told the newer male to follow them until they reached the creek. It was an iffy decision especially if the female didn’t even recognize this male, but then again it was the only one Crimson could even image the beta making. For leaving, anyone alone in this inferno to fend for themselves was beyond cruel and besides perhaps after they had reached safety this male would prove to either be a loner seeking acceptance or a pack member.

They would soon find out as with each step they took the group neared the Westward Creek and already he could make out the blackened figures of the others on the other side.

The Pack Lands - Page 35 Empty Re: The Pack Lands

Post by Guest November 21st 2011, 8:58 pm

As Ice stood staring at the river she was frozen in a calm fear, how was she to cross with her new injury? It seemed almost impossible, Ice gave a snort and mumbled to herself, "No, it's not over until it's over. I will do this injury or not." Then she backed up a few paces, her plan was simple, run, jump, swim, and live. At least she hoped that this would work.

To motivate herself she thought of her favorite poem, Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that for the destruction of ice is also great and would suffice. With this in mind she began running full speed at the river and then just before she ran into the water she gave a forceful push off of her hind legs and she seemed to fly over the river surface, her fore legs tucked under her chest and hind legs extended outward. Ice was half way across when she began to descend downward towards the murky waters, inches before she smacked into the water she took in a large breath and soon found herself under the water. She paddled her way to the surface trying to keep her head above water. Now all she had to do was paddle to the safety of the other shore where she'd be able to escape freely.

Ice began to doggy paddle towards the shore, only a few more inches and she'd reach land! Oh how happy she felt as her eyes lit up with a great hope, she urged herself to paddle faster but then she felt the water pull her side ways, away from the land, she yelped out, "No!!" Now her mind flipped into panic mode as she began to paddle frantically and harder. Her paddling was useless as she saw the shore getting farther from her, the water seemed angry at her for some reason as she continued to struggle towards the safety of dry ground. The water began pulling her towards a group of the pack members, in her panic she barked out to them in urgency and fear, "Help me!! Please! The current is pulling me away!!!" The water splashed at her face sending her under for a moment until she came back to the surface struggling to keep above the water, was this to be her end?
Never would she have guessed that her fate might rest within these cold waters she had called home for a year. A year, only one year I've lived within a real pack. I made only a few friends and know not very many of the pack members. Yet Ice felt a calmness in knowing her watery fate, for when winter came she would become part of these waters, her spirit would flow within them and maybe she thought just maybe her reflection would be known best when the surface froze into ice. Soon her body began to tire in the struggle and she gave up letting the water engulf her body.

((omg longest post ever!! O.O uh yes lovely death scenes. could this be the end of Ice? Who knows... except me! XD ... i think...))

"Help me!! Please! The current is pulling me away!!!"

Crimson’s ears shot up as words entered into the air battling with the crackling fire behind him to be heard. Watery eyes caught the image and without a moment of hesitation, Crimson darted away from the group. Someone, something was in the water and they were struggling to stay upright and keep themselves from falling below the waters surface. Pushing himself as hard as he could Crimson felt exhaustion come much faster then it normally did, but slowing down was not an option. As he reached the waters edge, he immediately flung himself into the cold liquid. Because of his weight and size, his entire body submerged, but he found his head quickly bobbing up as he sucked in the air. The ash that had collected on his fur seemed to wash away as the water danced throughout his mostly gray and brown coat.

Now that he was in the water, he needed to reach the other figure as soon as he could before it was too late. Thrusting his back legs and front paws in different directions, he began to paddle forward. The current helped tremendously and he soon found himself near enough to make out that the figure was in fact a wolf such as himself. However, he had not met this female before and because of the water, he could not tell if she was a member or a loner. Now that he was near enough, he needed a plan to get the female out of the water while trying to make it out himself.

The Pack Lands - Page 35 Empty Re: The Pack Lands

Post by Guest November 21st 2011, 10:00 pm

Ice fought to keep her head up and as she did she saw a male, he jumped into the water, was he taking action to help her?! The male swam nearer and nearer until they both saw each other, but Ice could see he was not sure of her presence, Ice choked out, "I'm a scout..." That's all she could say before another small wave pushed her down, again she struggled to the surface, this time only enough to take in another small breath before being thrust back into the water, the debris under the water stung her eyes and she closed them shut as she tried to figure out which way was now up and what way was down. But before she could go up the water battered her and tumbled her every which way, thus she lost her breath, but her body floated to the surface unconscious.

Kira kept her gaze on the male she did not recognize, her ears not catching the faint call for help. When she turned to see Crimson bolting off she stood stunned for a moment. What was happening? What had she missed? With no question she looked to the others, then back to Crimson. As he disappeared into the water she found herself merely halfway there. She slowed- her cool orbs searched the water, breathing a sigh of relief as they resurfaced. But it quickly turned to horror as BlackIce's body floated limp to the surface. She stopped abruptly as she reach the waters edge, eying the swirling pool nervously. She had always adored water, but this creek had taken too many lives and she had grown to fear it. The ebony female looked around rapidly, her heart pounding in her ears. "How can I help?" she asked, her expression one of pure frustration as she tried desperately to keep a level head. Another life would not be lost to the blue water- not again.

“I’m a scout…”

Crimson tried to nod in understanding, but before he could, the female was pulled under once more only to reach the surface of the water again though this time she was unconscious. Which made things ten times harder then before and immediately, his plan was thrown out. Originally, he had hoped the female could make it if he just aided her a little bit, but now he would be left to do all the work himself. Except that there was, the current and perhaps he could use that to his advantage. He pushed himself forward until he was able to grasp a part of the female. Any part would do as long as her head stead above water and so he fastened his teeth around a part of her scruff. Normally this would be a method best suited for smaller and younger wolves…such as pups. Though he hoped, it would work well enough for the time being…until he could at least place his feet on the colorful stones below. After that, it would be easy enough to just drag her onto shore. Therefore, with both fur and water now filling his mouth Crimson stopped paddling and focused only on keeping both of their heads above water. However, this task was much harder then it seemed and occasionally Crimson felt his own head going under. As he floated down the icy liquid with the female’s scruff still in his mouth he heard faint words. Though they were unclear and the sloshed together with the sound of water. Even if he wished to speak he couldn’t unless he let go of the female.

In the blackness of Ices unconscious mind she did feel something or someone take her by the scruff on her neck and begin to pull. Ice knew it was most likely the male who had jumped in to help, Ice couldn't help but feel guilty for this situation, if only she had more strength than speed; this was often something she wished to have like her brothers' had had great strength. She could feel the cold water around her, finding its way in little by little but not enough to choke her as of now. She could only hope that she and the strange male would make it to safety.

Spirit whirled around, hearing shouts and splashes from downstream. She caught sight of Crimson, his head bobbing just above the surface as he paddled towards another figure. Though Spirit couldn't exactly make out who it was. Spirit had barely time to breath before a black blur ran by, followed by yet another splash. What was going on?
Slowly at first Spirit made her way down the bank, careful to keep out of the water's reach but close enough to the water to keep the three wolves in sight. Her pace picked up as their heads began to go under the surface. A low whine escaped Spirit's throat. While she wanted desperately to help her own terrible fears of water were holding her back. They didn't need another body to go and save from the dark depths.

Taking a big breath Spirit leaped, aiming toward the struggling group. A large splash followed, spraying water droplets into the air. Spirit's head broke above the surface, gasping for breath. Her blue eyes were wild as she looked frantically about. Why was she so stupid? What was she even thinking? Kicking her legs fiercely the Lead Scout made her way over to Crimson who was trying to drag the female she now recognized as Ice. The freezing water was already beginning to take its toll on Spirit. She could feel her muscles beginning to ache and grow numb. Pushing it aside she carefully slid under Ice's chest, trying to help lift the female out of the water and add extra support for Crimson. Turning she kicked, trying to head towards the stream with any energy she could muster, the blazing trees now seemingly forgotten.

Still focused on keep himself and the unconscious female above water Crimson hardly noticed Spirit jumping in the water. Though as she paddled and made her way to help out Crimson felt a wave of relief wash over him. With Spirit now helping support, the other female’s body things were becoming somewhat easier. Soon Crimson began to feel the stones below and started to dig his paws in and brace himself to pull the still unconscious female out of the water. However, the stones were slippery and as he pulled backwards, he felt one of his legs dart out beneath him and he slammed into the water. As he tried to recover Crimson let go of Ice’s scruff for a brief moment before he took a hold of it once more this time with a firmer grip.

Spirit let out a large sigh of relief as her paws finally touched some form of ground. She dug her paws into the rock, struggling to find a hold. She could feel the current as Ice's body continued to be pulled downstream. Spirit bit her lip, pushing forward with as much force as she could muster; Ice's dead weight didn't help the situation. Panic began to set in, as Crimson's grip slipped. Spirit looked up, her eyes widening as Ice's weight began pulling her backwards downstream. Her paws left the rocks for a few brief moments before Crimson grabbed hold once more, pulling them back to the shore. Growling slightly Spirit walked up the pebbles, walking forward she came up to the shore, letting Ice roll off her back and onto the ground. Turning around Spirit helped drag Ice the rest of the way out of the water.

Taking a few steps backwards, falling back on her haunches. She coughed, her lungs burning from some water she had nearly swallowed. Her chest heaved as she fought for air, though her eyes remained on the stream. It's water continued merrily on downstream as if it hadn't just tried to claim four lives. Four perfectly healthy beings, and strip them of something so dear. Spirit narrowed her eyes. Her hatred for the liquid only grew.

Ice felt another being support her front now, whom it was she did not know yet. Soon Ice felt her body be laid on solid ground, it relieved her to the max. It wasn't long as her body began to tremble in turn to make its own heat, then began to heave up the burning water. Slowly and weakly Ice opened her eyes, everything was a blur, until she looked towards the two figures who had saved her. The white one seemed familiar, it was Spirit, she had helped get her to shore, next Ice spotted the male whom she did not know yet, but it didn't matter, all that Ice knew was that she saw him as her hero. Ice fully opened her eyes and choked up the last remaining water from her body, then lamely tried to push her upper body to a half sitting and half laying position but failed and fell back to her side. She tried again, with another fail, after that she remained to lay. Ice cast her glance towards the male then to Spirit, hoarsely Ice huffed out between chattering teeth, "Th-thank you... both..." Then Ice focused her eyes to the male, she would owe him more than a mere thank you.

((yay Icee gets to live!! ^^))

Mycroft grinned slightly on his approach, his tail wagging happily behind him. His ears perked to the two wolves as the looked upon him strangely, foreignly. It took a moment for the male to realise that he was unrecognisable under all the mud and twigs.

"Follow us"

His ears flicked shyly as his mouth gaped and dared to speak, but a cry for help had broke the air. The earthly coloured wolf had bounded off to the rescue soon followed by Kira. With a quick shake, some of the twigs and mud disappearing Mycroft darted after them, he was still panting from the run that he had.

Looking quickly to the creek beside him, Mycroft decided quickly to jump in and rid himself of the mud and ash. He rolled in the shadows, and the water soon washed away the most of the mud and ash that had made his coat almost black. The twigs were removed from his coat and he got back to his paws slowly, shaking the water from his pelt. The ash had still clearly stained his white chest.

It was after that, that Mycroft took to his paws and bounded after the earthly coloured wolf and Kira. To find the wolf that had been in trouble was safe now. He looked to them sitting quietly behind the group, his pelt still covered in water, grouping together. Waiting to see what to do next.

Cinnamon spun around as Ice's paniced yelps reached her ears. Then she saw a wolf burst from the forest and leap into the water, grabbing Ice by the scruff and hauling her towards the shore. With bated breath she saw Spirit also race to the stream to help.

As soon as all were on the shore she trotted down to them, nosing Ice gently

"Are you alright? Hurt anywhere?" Then she glanced first at Spirit, then Crimson "You two?" Concern filled her tone for all three, they didn't deserve to loose packmates after surviving the fire.

Then she glanced back at the forest and spoke to Crimson "I'm sorry, I put your life and all of the others in danger by running off like that..."

The white brute didnt know what to reply to the young male who had spoken for what he thought of the beta of the pack. For once, he let his eyes talk. They glowed just like the fire's ashses. Even with all the terror bulit up inside him, they still shone as bright as the northern star had. They showed nothing but understandment from the brute's words.

At last. Someone understands me.

Phantom had no clue what to do. The white brute stood with shock as a body floated back onto the surface. All this was happpening so fast to him. It was just the the flame wall. Nothing but horror surrounding him. Most of the wolves here, he did not know and he soon found himself looking at them in confustion.

Maybe if I prove myself, they'll accept me to be one of them.

He gulped. There wasn't any saliva locked inside his mouth ever since the fire burned it all up. His throat burned and craved for someone moist and soothing. He tired to ignore that and focus on his top thought. Besides surving this massacre. After what seemed like serval terrible painful moments, he came up with the correct words to speak. The brute quickly coughed up the dry words. "I'll help. If there's anything I can do for you. Even through the pain. I will prove myself worthy of you all for saving my life back there."

Ice lifted her head to meet Cinnamon's eyes, Ice answered her with a soft and faint voice, "Yes, I think I am fine. Thank you Cinnamon." However, Ices gaze cast over to the male who had been the first to come to her aid, Ice felt a respect for the brute, he was brave enough to save her without knowing much of herself and kind enough as to risk himself for her. Ice gathered her strength once more and found herself standing, even though she felt beaten down from her near death visit and exhaustion made her body ache she still held the strong determination and will to move. She made her way over to the brute who had saved her, she made sure to meet his gaze, sending a visual message of respect, gratitude, and envy, at the same time showing her own strengths as hiding her emotions, seeming to look as a confident and proud warrior after a battle, Ice spoke to him, "Sincerely, thank you. You are the most courageous to leap into these icy waters despite the risk they posed to yourself. My name is BlackIce, or just Ice for short. I owe you for this."

((And now Ice shall commit to being Crimsons follower/stalker. X3))

The Pack Lands - Page 35 Empty Re: The Pack Lands

Post by Adena November 22nd 2011, 2:58 pm

A male approached them, coming through the smoke like a shadow. Adena didn't recognize him. Now there were two strange males accompanying them. She, Crimson and Kira weren't quite outnumbered but it still made her uneasy even if one of them wasn't in full strength. Adena's ears flicked as Crimson spoke to the male, speaking of acceptance for him. The creek was nearing - to her relief - and Adena could just make out the strong ripples of its surface racing away. It was only when they grew nearer that she saw something moving in the water, something - someone - she recognized. She stopped abruptly. The shape in the water was BlackIce. Adena's eyes widened in fear for her fellow pack member. How had this happened?

Her attention was diverted when Crimson took off toward the water, plunging in without hesitance. Adena gasped silently. The two of them were in danger now. She ran forward. This section of the creek was deeper than most of it, that she knew. Adena slowed as she reached the water’s edge. She felt the chilly water swirling around her paws. Her blue eyes watched apprehensively as Crimson reached the sinking form of BlackIce. If needed, she would go in after them but so far the current hadn't thrown them too far from the shore where Adena stood. Then she saw a flash of white fur out of the corner of her eye. Spirit had joined them in the water. Both Crimson and Spirit grabbed hold of BlackIce now, lugging her along with them towards the water’s edge.

They made their way onto land. Everyone gathered around BlackIce, asking her if she was alright. Adena stepped back away from the crowd. She looked around. They had reached the creek; they were safe. Looking behind them Adena saw that the fire had calmed down, however slightly. She could see the greyness of the forest that had once been green and full of prey was now empty except for the straight, singed, crispy trees. BlackIce regained strength quickly. She stood and went over to Crimson. Adena watched her thank him. The female seemed to look at him with such intensity that Adena felt a little pang of envy, yet she didn’t know why. She turned away quickly. Adena padded over to Spirit and sat down next to her. "Are you alright?" she asked quietly. She could see the female didn't like water yet she had leapt courageously in after BlackIce.

Kira watched silently, relieved that Ice had made it back on shore safely. Yet as the same time, she felt disdain towards herself. The three of them could have been lost- all because she was afraid to enter the water. She stood awkwardly, her ears splayed to the sides. Her gaze fixated on the ground and remained there as she made no movements. Why hadn't she helped? Despite being afraid, it was uncharacteristic of her to have not acted. The concept puzzled her, making her both frustrated and angry with herself.

The Pack Lands - Page 35 Empty Re: The Pack Lands

(…I'm sorry guys, for that bout of scilence. Looks like I have been moved Razz! And thanks for waiting Gale, I wont let you down!)

As Sepya had followed Ice through the flaming chaos that was the forest for what would be her final time, all thoughts of her anonymous caller had been choked out by the sheer terror the flames had induced. It was as if blinders has been placed upon her vision and ears. She heard nothing and saw only what lay before her, in blurred scilence. She even lost track of Ice at some point, and was left to conquer the flames alone. She simply continued to run in the direction she last saw her.

Sepya had never run so hard in her life; the smoke took her breath away, choking her. She barely noticed her pelt being ravaged by various charred sticks and twigs. She was thrououghly winded before the caught the first glimps of daylight through the thinning trees and smoke.

When she finally broke the treeline, she was gasping uncontrollably. The pain in her lungs almost brought her to the ground. Taking in the body of water before her, Sepya was surprised to see so many wolves surrounding it on the other shore. So this is how I get to meet the pack... she thought grimly. Her vision was so blurred, she couldn't distinguish pelt from pelt.

In a moment of brief confusion, she opened her mouth to speak to the wolves. The sound that came out of her jaws was not her own, destroyed by the blackened air. "Who--?

But Sepya cut her own voice as another, familiar bass resonated from within the fiery hell behind her. Her breath caught in her chest once again, and this time it had nothing to do with the fire. Her eyes went as wide as an owls. Sepya whipped around to face the flames once more, the devilish colors blurring together as her eyes stung with the heat.

"No way..." she whispered, her voice cracking. "No--way..."

He's still in there?!

Her mysterious guardian did exist after all! With every ounce of will she had left, Sepya bounced unto her hind legs and emit her note with all the voice she had left. Her grating howl cracked and died out quickly, much to Sepya's dismay. She returned to all fours with a thump.

Coughing terribly, she whirled around to face what she assumed to be the direction of the pack. No longer able to keep her eyes open, she squinted desparately at the dark blob across the water. Her voice rose to a frightening pitch. "Don't just stand there! Let him know where here!" she shrieked, bristling along her spine. Sepya whirled back to face the forest, her ears straining to hear the reply she could not afford to miss.

"Don't just stand there! Let him know we're here!"

Though she wouldn't have normally obeyed a loner, Cinnamon knew there was only one He that could be meant. Lifting her head she let out a long clear howl in Gale's general direction

"All safe by creek... All members safe, all members safe." Then she dropped her head and waited, hoping he heard.
