The Winter Den - Page 5 Empty Re: The Winter Den

Although late to catch the pack into their new home. Falco whizzed through the alpines, his tainted white fur, making him almost invisible in the terrain. His endurance and build certainly made him fit well in the mountainside, seeming to loose all his elements of clumsiness on the slanted surface. A light pink tongue lolled out the side of his jaw as he raced along the new place. Somehow, somewhere the hunter had fallen behind, but no matter now, he was sure to catch the pack soon enough.

The hunter soon caught up to where the pack was at, they all seemed to, once again have broken off into their smaller groups to converse. Falco smiled and took a gulp of air, catching his breath before approaching the Alpha's. He slowly swaggered over to them with a friendly smile and dipped his head respectfully to Rune and Maiara, He hoped that he wasn't going to interrupt something, so he slowly continued forth. "I apologise for being late, I seemed to have taken a wrong turn somewhere...." he lifted his head slightly and smiled friendly to the both of them, "Would you like me to take some hunters and go and get some food for the pack, Rune and Maiara.." he spoke respectfully and once again lowered his head, his long white tail swayed behind him. As he awaited their reply Falco thought over where his mate had gotten too. He hadn't seen her around the new den, maybe she was just late like he was. He hoped that she would be okay.

"I'm fine as well." he lied down and watched the rest of the world go by, his ears twitched at every little sound that was made.

Luna watched as Mahina walked off to join a white female and brown male. The look in her sister's eyes as she left troubled Luna. Deep inside the female, hidden behind the pain of her past, Mahina was heartbroken.

The white female let her ears drop, and she looked around her, searching for the female Mahina had mentioned. Maiara was it? She looked for the cream pelt her sister had pointed to, finding it at last. With her body lowered to the snow, Luna made her way over to the alphess.

When Luna reached her, the answers to any question the alphess may have rolled off her tongue. "Excuse me, Alphess Maiara is it? I am Luna Sondra Auralis, Mahina's sister. I come in peace and wish to cause no harm to the pack or anything about it. I come here seeking acceptance, and am willing to take on any rank you may have."

Soran’s fur bristled at the female’s stance, not out of anger, but curiosity as to why she attempted to show such a display of dominance; especially in the middle of a large pack territory. His eyes flicked to the bright she-wolf as she asked the simple one word question he could not fully answer, “I’m not sure...” He replied, feeling his answer was a little insufficient and quickly added; “Best to go and check though, however I’m not quite sure how she made it this far without being seen.”

With a quick touch to Spirit’s muzzle, Soran began a slow pace towards the dark loner, with his paws making deep trenches in the snow as he went. As he neared, he realized that despite the female’s size, she had a certain boldness that he found amusing. “If you are looking to provoke a fight, you best do it when the alphas are near enough to notice. It would save you from being chased out of the territory before even speaking to them.” He said, his tone taking on a wary ring to it. Assuming she had been looking for either Maiara or Rune, the male gazed behind her but found no hint of either Alpha’s in the territory.

Silver led her sister to Maiara, but turned as she felt the presence of hostile feelings that seemed to claw at her neck. Turning, she stared at the onyx colored female stalking through the den with dominant posture.

"If this were my pack, she'd be pinned to the floor for showing that dominance in a place where she has none. " Amethyst commented, and Silver winced at the fact that her sister's murmurs could be heard by the female. She tensed, nodding stiffly in agreement. It took all of her control to brake her disapproving gaze from the wolf.

"Greetings, Maiara, this is my Sister Amethyst. Amethyst, this is Maiara, the alpha female. " Silver said, gesturing to the orange female beside her. Her voice was loud enough for all to hear.

Amethyst leaned towards her, looking confused.
"What of Nadia?" She said, and Silver winced. "Those wolves we had fled from, they killed her. " She said before making it clear with one stare that the subject was gone. Done. No more speaking of what had very nearly had been a figure of a mother for her.

Spirit flattened her smoky ears against her skull as the female displayed dominance to them. It wasn't really her place as a loner to make such a movement, but part of Spirit couldn't help but admire the she-wolf for it. Her ears flicked as she felt Soran's muzzle touch hers before he started walking toward the dark she-wolf. Rising to her own paws, Spirit trailed after Soran, her her smoky grey paws making small trenches in the untouched snow. Spirit stopped a short distance behind Soran, her eyes darting between the two; but she remained silent feeling it really wasn't her place to say anything.

Rune smiled warmly as he dipped his head back toward Falco. “You may if you wish Falco, but wouldn’t you rather rest for a bit?” He asked as he swished his tail causally behind him and waited for Falco’s response. The pack had made it to the winter den, but it was not the one he had had in mind for the pack. It was a snap decision, but one that Rune was glad he ended up making. They had waited until it was too late and although it itched at Rune to return to that place he would not risk losing members due to his itch.

With a quick shift of his head, Rune looked over towards Maiara she seemed to be watching the others and lost in her thoughts. “How’s the thinking and observations going?” Rune asked although it was meant more as a joke then an actual question for her to answer.

(Eh, it's lame)

Shadow trotted to the new den, wondering where the loner had run off to. She sighed and trotted over to Rune. She dipped her head.
"
Hello Rune. Anything I can do for the pack?" she asked, feeling like helping.

As the large brute she had been watching earlier approached, Taru puffed out her chest, raising her head and looking straight forward. She had to look stronger and bigger if she was going to be accepted as helpful, correct? The bad side, he could also kill her for such acts on his pack's territory. When the male spoke, the small, dark female listened. The words that explained he was not the dominant male made the female release her breath. She had been holding her breath for quite some time, her chest deflating with the sudden break. Darkness filled the edges of her vision, the lack of oxygen giving her a head ache.

Taru's head dropped, eyes closing in pain. "Do you know where I could find the dominants of the this pack?" she asked, fully relieved that he had not attacked her. Her head rose again, finding that now two wolves stood before her. A female, the one she had been watching earlier. In an instant, Taru regretfully filled her lungs with air and puffed back up. Her tail rose and her ears pricked. Perhaps this was the dominant female, and she needed to make sure she gave a good impression.

Lebanen carefully walked around the forest, hoping not to be spotted. Suddenly he spotted a group of wolves. Shadow was among them! He stopped and crept to a bush downwind of the wolves. He wanted to talk to his sister, not fight a pack of agressive wolves. He heard them talk. One dominate looking male seemed to have the name of Rune. Another was Falco. Ren sighed, wishing he had a pack to call family. Shadow was lucky.

Elysia nodded slowly to Kanae, both embarassed that she had needed Kanae's warmth - and grateful that she had come. At the sound of slightly raised voices, Elysia's ears perked. Her eyes alighted back on Soran. He was still with Mahina and Spirit, but there was also an unfamiliar she-wolf with him. Elysia slowly clambered to her paws, her legs shaking slightly. She shook the snow from her pelt, stretching. She looked to Kanae.

"Want to go see what the fuss is about?" She tilted her head, doing her best to be sociable and friendly. Her eyes flicked between Kanae and Soran. She wanted to show support from the pack, that she would assist in dealing with strangers. And it was an excuse to be near Soran, maybe get him to notice her. Perhaps she could do something useful, like fetch Rune and Maiara. She was a scout, a fast runner. She smiled slightly at the thought, her tail swishing slowly back and forth against her back legs.

She flicked her tail to Kanae and smiled warmly. "Come on, I bet it'll be interesting." Without waiting for a reply, but figuring Kanae would want to come, Elysia padded over to join the small group. She joined the little semicircle, standing on one side of the unknown female. She was technically beside Soran, but not really. She was more of in his line of sight, that was more..subtle.

Soran's head shifted slightly to the side curiously as the dark she-wolf drew a long breath in an attempt to appear larger then she actually was. "If you keep holding your breath just to puff yourself out like that, you won't last long enough to meet the Alphas." he said, a hint of a smile crossing his muzzle. His tail rocked back and forth casually as he considered the loner; her enthusiasm to meet With one of the alphas only proved how greatly her desire was to join the pack.

As he looked pass the female in hope to spot either Rune or Maiara, the male noticed a dark scout that seemed to have joined their group. Everywhere he looked, she seemed to always, yet subtly in his line of sight. "Could you find Rune or Maiara and deliver her to them?" he asked, realizing this was he first he had ever addressed aside from flitting glances; and he didn't even had a name to address her by.

Elysia looked to the small dark female at her side. As Soran had pointed out, she was small and attempting to make herself look larger. Elysia hid a smile, with difficulty. Sure the new female was small, but she was larger than Elysia. Perhaps that would make her feel better? Elysia wasn't sure. She turned her head, looking between the new female, Soran, Spirit and Mahina. She was the newest of them, still getting the ropes of the pack. Though she was a fully accepted member, she looked to them for direction. Her ears perked as Soran adressed her.

Her eyes flashed, though she noticed he hadn't used her name. It was to be expected. She only knew his because she had asked around. Not all the members creeped on each other like Elysia apparently did. She nodded swiftly to Soran, acknowledging his request. She stepped forward towards the new female, smiling a genuine smile. She tilted her head, "Follow me." She padded past the new female, but paused and looked back.

Her eyes flicked between the new female and Soran. A slow smile, amused and for once - confident - spread across her muzzle. She added, almost as an afterthought. "You can call me Elysia." Her comment, though directed at the new female, had a teasing aim at Soran. There, that was subtle right? Friendly? Smooth? Elysia was kind of new at this whole..social thing.

Kanae hid the smile that threatened to appear on her features as Elysia headed over to the small group that was currently crowded around a mysterious, dark coloured she-wolf. Slowly, the snow-white scout stood and shook her head as her eyes looked at her friend with an amused light in them.

Once she reached the group, she stopped right beside Soran. She noted that he had addressed Elysia and that the pretty fae had instantly brightened. It was obvious she had feelings for the brute.

The second Elysia and the new fae departed, Kanae looked at the Delta.

"How long has she been here, Soran?" Kanae asked as her eyes glanced back at the newcomer before returning to the Delta.

Taru watched as a large group seemed to form around her. Oh dear, the tiny wolf thought, tail twitching in anxiety. Her vision was fading, why couldn't she release her breath? There! There were the words that she needed to hear. In a rush of air and a quick gasp, Taru felt her legs grow weak. Her rump hit the ground with a quiet thud as the back legs gave way, breathing trying to regulate itself back to normal. None of the wolves were the dominants of the pack, the one called Soran had established this. The ones called Maiara and Rune were who she needed to find. She had been assigned a guide, a smaller female than her.

Grinning wildly, the ebony female tried to hold back a laugh. If they had accepted a wolf of this one's size, why was she practically suffocating herself to make her size larger? Even as the other instructed her to follow, the female did not move. "May I have a second to breathe?" she asked, her voice low and ears flattened. It might have been something small to ask, but it would mean a lot to her if she was going to have to meet both the dominants soon. "Soran and Elysia," Taru spoke out loud, for these were names she would soon need to learn. "Um, if you don't mind, could you stand next to Elysia, Soran? I learn names by faces, so if you are closer together, it would be a lot easier for me," she spoke again, rising to her paws with a sheepish grin. The female could have noticed the look that Elysia had given Soran, but then again, things tended to go over Taru's head.

Post by Spirit June 17th 2011, 2:30 pm

Spirit's gaze flicked from wolf to wolf around her as they all spoke among themselves. Being observant was something Spirit was well at and often did without realizing it. She preferred to mull things over before leaping into them. Of course she always did like the thrill of a surprise. But Spirit was no fool and could see the way Elysia brightened as Soran had addressed her, and couldn't help but feel a small twinge of jealousy. While being a tad rambunctious in most things she does Spirit had always been terribly shy when it came to her feelings for others and was never one to show them to others, let along make it too obvious.

Before Elysia led the dark loner away she asked for the two, Soran and Elysia, to stand next to each other. Spirit could feel her heart drop, her stone colored ears lowering against her skull. She turned her head sideways, searching for something to stare at - a distraction of sorts. Her gaze fell upon a nearby tree. She took in a deep breath, trying to calm her frayed nerves.

Elysia had begun to pad towards where she could hear distant voices, where she assumed Rune would be, but the new female called out. Her request was perfectly reasonable and honestly, Elysia was more than happy to have an excuse to linger in Soran's presence. She padded back, having the same graceful air that Pallatsera had always had. Her ears perked at the female's request. Stand next to Soran? Not a problem for her....though the variety of grins made Elysia curious. The female had noticeably relaxed when she saw Elysia and was no longer trying to blow herself up - which was good. Elysia had never been self concious about her size, she rather liked it - except when she was cold.

Elysia sat down, curling her bushy bracken tail over her paws neatly (again as Pallatsera had always done). She glanced at Soran. Was there something behind this female's request? Elysia looked around at the others. Taru looked innocenct enough, then again she had practically tried to inflate herself moments earlier. Mahina hadn't made any reply and neither had Soran. But Spirit, well she had gone from watching them to averting her gaze. She seemed to be avoiding looking at them completely. Elysia's ears twitched curiously, had something struck a nerve with the female?

Elysia shifted her paws and looked to Taru and then Soran, shrugging lightly. "I dont mind at all." A grin split her lips, for perhaps the first time since she had joined the pack. Her eyes were bright as she looked to Taru. She had already developed a fondness for the amusing she-wolf. "And you could use a minute to breath since you seemed to be rebelling against it earlier." She lowered her voice teasingly, winking at Taru. "I recommend staying on the good side of air, all oxygen's enemies seem to die pretty fast."

Soran opened his mouth in response to Kanae’s question, but found his voice overlapped by the dark loner from earlier. Her question raised suspicion slightly, as he caught her sheepish grin; suggesting she held some knowledge the others didn’t. His eye caught Spirit as her gazed shifted somewhere into the distance, seemingly distracted to the wolves around her. Crossing a few steps over, the male stood a few inches from where Elysia sat; not close enough to touch fur, but close enough to feel the warmth given off in the dry winter air.

His ears flicked casually as he swished his tail back and forth against his legs. His gaze was on the female directly in front of him as he tried to deceiver her odd pattern of grinning and oxygen deprivation. A placid expression crossed his face as he lowered himself onto the snow, shifting his paws so that the curled inwardly towards the warmth of his body.

Taru felt a laugh bubble up inside her chest when Elysia made a joke about her breathing. She was about to make a witty retort but stopped, deciding against prolonging the conversation. The female turned, taking in the picture of the two wolves and nodding slowly. "Note taken. I shall never forget either of your faces or names," she grinned, wagging her tail slightly. The female rose gingerly to her paws, careful not to cause too much movement with her still present headache. She noticed the other female, the chalky, quiet one, had shifted her gaze away from the group.

Coughing as though a bug had flown down her throat, the loner tried to regain the once natural atmosphere the group had. "Please lead the way," Taru gestured for Elysia to walk, for the female was her guide apparently. She turned, bowing slightly to all the wolves that now lurked around her. A sense of stress and anxiety made her throat feel tight, so no words managed to escape for good-byes.

The Winter Den - Page 5 Empty Re: The Winter Den

Post by Guest June 17th 2011, 4:36 pm

As Soran moved - not saying anything, much to the exasperation of Elysia - Elysia had a few realizations. One was that she was cold again. She had made the cardinal error of small wolves. A real newby fail, it was just not a good move. She had sat in the snow, letting the cold icyness of it creep up through her paws and up her legs. A sharp wind blew, whistling through her fur which wasn't as thick as it really should be. And so, she had become very cold once more. Now what was the problem with this? Well she was trying to be all cool and Hey Soran I'm So Tough And Pretty but she couldn't really pull that off while shivering violently and with teeth chattering too hard to speak. Despite her best attempts, Elysia began to shiver.

Elysia's second realization, was that Taru was, would be and must be her new best friend. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, Taru had subtly gotten Soran to come within inches of Elysia - of his own free will. She couldn't feel his fur, which she bet was very soft and probably smelled good too, but she could feel the warmth. She glanced at him from her periphreal vision, thinking of how nice it would be to snuggle in his warm fur. He looked warm, laying in the snow with his paws tucked under him. She probably wouldn't shiver if she was snuggled up with him. She looked back to Taru. Yes, this new female, whoever she was and despite her strange arguement with air, would be her new best friend.

Elysia's third realization really came hand in hand with her second. Soran was within inches of her. Elysia's heart skipped slightly. He hadn't said anything, which was driving her crazy. There were a hundred really smooth things he could say. Elysia had gone through them all. Her particular favorites went something like this. "Hey Elysia, I'm Soran. Have we met? Why dont we spend some quality time together?" or like "Elysia, well what a beautiful name to match a beautiful face." Yeah, those were some good ones. Wait, but what was this? The female, Taru, was ready to go already. Elysia swallowed her dissapointment and stood. She wanted to be cool, collected - kind of like Spirit. Spirit was so chill and calm. Elysia felt a pang of jealousy for the silvery female. She began to pad slowly towards Rune, just in case Soran decided to say something.

Spirit couldn't help herself, glancing every other moment to the others, watching as Soran moved over to Elysia. Though she refused to show her inner turmoil to them. Jealousy got people no where, it only started things that never really end well. Her ears flicked as Taru proposed to leave now and Elysia slowly began to walk away, dragging her paws.

Spirit shuffled her feet in the snow, not really knowing what to do with herself now. She looked over to Soran who was now laying in the snow by himself. She debated going over to him or scooting off to one of the nearby trees. Of course she could always go out and scout around the territory... but the thought of going adventuring by herself depressed her. In fact just the thought nearly chilled her to the bone.

Through much debating Spirit slowly rose to her paws, making her way to Soran slowly. She dragged her paws along with her, leaving two long trenches in the snow. She stopped by him, sitting down. "You seem to have a nice meet and greet." She commented, wrapping her tail around her paws to protect them from the chilling wind. She looked down at him, plastering a smile on her muzzle though her eyes couldn't conceal her troubled thoughts.
