Bayne did not react to Dakota's ignorant words or actions, he would wait until their hunt was over then he'd go down after they'd all finish eating, & see if Rune would be there. Bayne thought out his plan & wording, it was obvious in his expression that he was lost in his own thoughts, which was usual for him. He let himself slide into a laying position as he watched the Banishing Winds hunt while he buried himself in his thoughts. 'I need a really good explanation & reasons when I speak with Rune or Maiara. If I am to rejoin them again, then I must also figure a way to rebuild my friendship with Kira & Silver.' A small sigh escaped from Bayne as he thought about that.

Zephyr's mind raced, her blood pumping with the ferocity of a forest fire. She looked around then caught another scent on the wind. Watching another wolf stride on the land, and Dakota pushing her way towards him with such anger, Zephyr realized that this male was not to be reckoned with.
The black female's previous distraction caused her focus to slip. She heard a powerful stomp of a hoof and her mind returned to the hunt. The bull laid his head down for grazing, his backside facing Zephyr's group. The perfect position, strike now. With a quick flick of her ears, signaling Derek to go, she sprinted forward. The herd and bull were terribly close to each other, making it hard for the young female to scare just the bull. But it worked. The herd tried darting away from the two wolves, kicking up grass in a blinding mass.
"Now!" She barked at Derek, it was time to separate the two. She veered to the left, making sure Derek had the bull going right and Maiara's group would keep it from turning all the way around. The herd followed the trail not scent by wolves, so the headed straight down the grasslands. Zephyr followed with quiet determination.

Bayne's attention flicked to the hunting pack, watching them made him want to join in, but he dare not interfere. As he watched the scene it made him amped, they all were running towards the grasslands, then a thought crossed his mind, 'If they chase the elk into the grasslands it will be easier for the elk to escape then. They should surround it instead then take turns at lunging at it, then they'd have an easy success.' The thoughts were making him hungry just thinking about hunting, he rose & padded back into the trees to catch a few hares.
[I'll be leaving for a couple hours later so if I don't post then I'm out doing some stuff. :)]

Derek made a straight Bee-line for the bull elk keeping it on the right path, and nipping its heels when it slowed down. He waited for the rest of the pack to catch up and help him, knowing that if he went alone he would die.

Under normal circumstances, Mahina would have waiting for a proper signal to go, but Zephyr and Derek going after the elk was good enough for her. With tail lashing in a flurry behind her, the femme launched herself forward, taking a quick double take on the scene before letting pure instinct, and the love of running, take over.

Soon enough, she got in stride with Derek and the elk, ducking away at the bulls hooves. With what seemed like a grin on her face, she nipped at the bulls flanks, ducking under his belly every few seconds to nip there, forcing the elk to get off stride every so often.

Silver's eyes flicked around as she stood, watching the hunt begin. Her green eyes lit up intensely like a fire, and she took up a crouching stance as she waited for the proper moment.

She saw a flick of a tail above the grass from the other group as Mina took off, her anxiety overwhelming her. Her back two legs came under her, almost touching her front paws, as she lurched forward, going full speed in a matter of seconds. She kept her head and tail down, dodging other elk's and their deadly hooves as she flanked around the herd, coming up behind the bull elk, Derek, and Mina. She put on a last burst of speed, becoming a white blur as she launched in the air. she slid to a stop at the elk's hind end, dodging a rather well-aimed kick that would have knocked her out had she not been faster. She stayed by it's shoulder, knowing both the back and front legs were dangerous, but could not reach her very well int hat spot. And nipped a few times at the base of it's neck, waiting for more wolves before beginning to actually bite.

(The spot Silver is in is actually a spot I'd stay in when leading an un-trained jerk of a foal, the back legs can't get that far up and the front can only clip her sides, but not enough to cause substantial damage. ^_^

(Remember everyone, high fail rates in hunts occur with wolves, along with a good chance of injury. Also, wolves cannot and don't have the leg power to jump on top of any type of large prey. Wolves may chase prey up to three days and not strike a single time. Wolves do not strike prey when it is not moving, for risk of injury. Almost always injury occurs from the horns of prey and/or the charging of that animal)

The black female began to slacken her pace, the pack was moving in behind her to the bull, and the elk were following her driving. Feeling the wind push up in a huge gust caused her to almost stop. With it though, the cows were startled, and broke ranks. Three stepped to the right, the other half of the herd continuing diagonally to the left.
Zephyr's black fur ruffled with nervous fear. She could barely see through her one eye in the light of the dawn, and either group of elk could decided to turn around. She started forward, using smell, sounds, and what little sight she had to follow the three cows. Quiet in her approach, the elk did according to plan and were scared into running back to the base group. Zephyr followed without any intention of further attack.
She was driving them to the farther end of the woods, which would give the pack just enough time to make the final kill. She was already out of view of the pack, hidden by the grassy hills. Just a few more miles. She thought. Just a few more miles.

Silver growled, urging the bull elk to keep moving. She kept at what she was doing, already having caused a few cuts on the bull elk's upper leg and lower neck and chest. She suddenly lost her footing, tripping over a small log on the ground that she had not seen. She managed a small yelp before feeling a hoof strike her head, hard enough that she fell to the ground in an unmoving heap.

Dakota's golden gaze watched intently, her lungs screaming for air as she held her breath. Injuries would happen, as they always did, but the question was, how severe would they be? Was Silver going to be ok? The female was frozen in place, a sudden breeze ruffling her fur like the grass below her. A sudden sneeze jolted her from her trance, sending a blob of spit flying into the grass. She was about to laugh when her eyes noticed something. Illuminated by the powerful afternoon rays of sun, small specs of scarlet blood could be seen in the small wad. Dakota studied it for a few moments, convincing herself slowly it was no big deal. In one swift motion, her dark paw swept over the grass, wiping away the obvious evidence of her worsening condition. Before looking back to watch the hunt, her eyes scanned over the wound on her stomach, noticing the spider webs were no longing holding. The female looked back at the grasslands below, then quickly began to head down to collect Silver's motionless body. Dakota would pull her away from the danger.

When Bayne finished his hare hunting he came back to his original sitting spot, but instead he stood, looking down on the grassland; what he saw made him want to howl. Without thinking of the danger he was putting himself in, he made a straight run for Silver's motionless body, he didn't think of the consequences that would follow, he only knew that he wanted to help. He kept his distance from Dakota though, seeing that she was headed the same way, Bayne didn't even look at her when his stride evened her own. Bayne urged himself to his maximum speed & at certain strides had all four paws off the ground.

Dakota reached Silver a few minutes after Bayne, her injury making her reasonably slower. The female's maw was wrinkled in detest, infurriated that Bayne had the deceny to try and help Silver. She lunged forward, her pearly teeth snapping inches away from his black ear. Keeping her jaw clenched near his ear, the female's teeth stayed shut tightly together but her words were as clear as her hatred for the male, "She is not yours to help anymore." Without another word, the huntress worked the passed out female onto her shoulders, slipping her onto her back. She grunted, then began the walk up hill to the place where she had been resting before. Her nails dug into the earth as she moved slowly away from the danger.

Out of the corner of her eye, Mahina saw Silver go down, trampled by the elk's hooves. With widened eyes and lost concentration, she let go of the elk's flank, stumbling after the white female. However, her paws didn't stop beside the fallen wolfess, instead, she stepped between Dakota and Bayne, giving a sharp glare to the male. "You have guts, but I suggest you leave this to Dakota, you are not part of this pack yet."

Without another word, the femme launched herself back at the elk, ivories glinting in the sun. "I'll make you pay for that!" She let her teeth tear into the elk's flank once more, using her strong pull strength to try and pull the elk down.

Standing his ground, but then taking a small step back when another former member came between him & Dakota, it was Mahina. Bayne only gave a hardened glare & a slight show of sharp teeth, specifically his large canine. It was true he could not physically interfere since he was not joined yet, but that was due to change. Bayne ignored the stabbing words Dakota threw at him, though they tore at his emotions, he kept his expression hard & cold. He didn't follow, but kept close enough to watch their every move.

Silver's eyes flicked open.

"I'm alright," she muttered quietly, letting herself slide of Dakota's back and into an awkward sitting position on the ground. Her head throbbed, but it wasn't unbearable. The jolt of her side hitting the ground made her wince. The last thing Dakota needed was to carry the burden of another wolf with her injury, even if Silver was shorter than her.

"You- your bleeding. " Silver said, after catching a glance at Dakota's wound. She stood, her mind racing. She was completely oblivious to Bayne watching. She turned, giving Dakota one last glance.

"Go to my den, I'll get some more herbs." she said, it was more an order than a request. She then turned, and in her idiocy slammed right into Bayne with a shocked yip of surprise and pain as her head throbbed angrily once again. She recoiled from him, holding in the snarl of anger that wished to escape. She turned without a word, continuing in the opposite direction where she knew a large patch of the herbs and leaves she needed lay.

(Yes, her size decreased. After looking and studying arctic wolves more, I noticed they were smaller than Grey wolves. She isn't as small as one, but not as big as a normal gray wolf either, since she is half and half.

Dakota frowned as Silver slid off her back, was her friend really ok? She watched as she slammed into Bayne, listening intently to her words. "Naw, thats ok. I'll walk back to the den with you once you get the herbs," she said, looking directly at Bayne while she spoke. Her icey stare, added with a prominent snort in his direction made her thoughts obviously clear. She would not be leaving Silver alone with Bayne.

Karma took small notice of Silver getting knocked out, but pursued the elk, figuring that those who had gathered were enough to aid her - hoping they were enough. She continued steering the elk where it was needed, coaxing herself on mentally.

Halting when Silver slid off of Dakota, then keeping good footing when she accidently bumped into him, he could obviously see she was furious with him; Bayne followed her anyway. In a tone that held both seriousness & some friendlyness he spoke, "You're mad at me aren't you? I can explain if you allow me... I only did what I had to, for all of our sake." After he said this he had remembered something, something that made his leaving painful. Bayne thought about what it was, then after a second it caught, he couldnt help to ask without a mind, "What are, they, like?" He idly wondered if Silver would catch on to what he was asking. Bayne ignored Dakota's reaction.
(Hmm, time for a sappy moment.)

Incendiu had just left then den after spending a long amount of time with the pups. He herded them into the den and took off at a fast pace. He ran to the hunting grounds, after hearing a big howl from many hours before. He ended up in the grasslands, his red fur a stick in the mud with the green grass. He ran to a big herd of elk running for the other side of the land. Inc was uunable to get to the back of the herd and ended up scaring them, and a few reared back. The red male ducked and growled, seeing a dark form behind the elk.

Like a peeved bull elk, Dakota let loose an angry snort. Bayne had crossed the line. She flew at him in a angry rage, her teeth snapping for his neck. "You have no right to ask about the pups," she spat, her ivory fangs slicing through his fur, missing his flesh. The female put herself between Silver and Bayne, spitting out bits of Bayne's fur. She then pulled back, ready to take another snap at the loner.

Zephyr's voice was almost a scream as a cow reared back and lost her balance, almost landing entirely atop of the young female. Her leg was party crushed, her paw twisting painfully. When she was able to escape the giant's panic, she spotted a red wolf and placed her paw down. Thankfully it was not broken, so she was able to slightly walk to the male. No... I know him... Zephyr's gaze opened wide, along with her blinded eye. She held her head high, and finally realized her worst fear came true.
"You." She said softly, her eyes narrowing, her deep yellow glare penetrating. "What is your name?" She hissed through bared teeth.

Incendiu growled loudly at the puny female, his larger size easily shown as a winner of a fight, in case any broke out. "Incendiu, beta of the Banishing Winds." He scented the wind, and smelled that she was apart of the pack. But she look familiar too, was it the eyes? or was it something else? "I see your apart of the pack too, you should probably check before you growl." He said warily, a half smile on his muzzle. Inc took a step to the black female and then closed the gap between them, almost until they were nose to nose.

"Stop. " Silver said, stepping forward. The walked in front of Dakota, looking at her in a silent message. She didn't feel like fighting.

Let's go. her expression said clearly, then she turned and walked without a word. She stopped for a moment, turning to Bayne.

"If you know what's best for you, don't follow. " she growled, her green eyes burning with anger. She then turned, continuing into the trees and toward the smell of herbs.

At first notice of her constant tugging not working, Mahina snarled at the elk, shoving her free paw forward. It hit the back of the bull's leg perfectly, making the large animal stumble. Not giving the elk a chance to recover, the femme launched her paw at his other leg, stumbling out of the way as the elk buckled and fell to his stomach. "Yeah!"

With nimble paws, the wolfess rushed to the elk's neck, ducking at his antlers, a slight scratch going all along her back. "KARMA! Help me!" She ducked again, prancing away from the elk but still taunting him enough to stay on the ground, and allow Karma to give a sneak bite to his windpipe.
